Live from the Battlefield

This week is a little different, because I’m on trial, learning all sorts of lessons we can apply to our lives. I can’t wait to share them with you in the coming weeks! One is something I’ve known for years. No matter how hard you prepare, you’re never ready for trial. The famous trial attorney Mark Geragos said it best on a recent podcast with Jordan Harbinger. He was talking about trials and said “no battle plan survives first contact with the enemy”. He was right. (Actually Helmuth Von Moltke the Elder was right. It was his quote). No matter how you prepare, trials change every day. The only predictable thing about them is that they’re unpredictable. And what a life lesson that is!

I recently played with SlideShare and created this slide presentation on this very point. The bottom line is that in trial, and in life, you can have a plan but you can’t be married to it. You have to be flexible, and able to change your plan when necessary. That is the only way you will win–in the courtroom, in the boardroom, in the bedroom and in the kitchen!

Man plans, and God laughs. So go ahead and make your plans. Just know that when God laughs, you’re best off laughing right along with Him. Have a great week!
